What To Wear Wednesday?

Since Wednesday is HUMP DAY and all it should be only appropriate that we have something fun on the blog to help us finish out the week. I figured I'd try out a couple new things such as Wish List Wednesday and now Im thinking What To Wear Wednesday?? Sharing with you some of my outfits that I pick out.

Wednesdays are long days for me since I am in classes all day from 9:30 am to 7:30 PM {blahhhh I know} but since its one day that I get to get out of the house and have something to do I try to make it a point to dress up and put together some outfits with my MANY MANY pieces of clothing.

Animal Print Top ~ Buckle

Black Shirt ~ Target

Jeans ~ Buckle

Shoes ( I know you can't see) ~ Black boots from Target

iPhone Case ~ Goodwill {Brand New!!}

I have never worn this top before and decided to give it a try today since it has been sitting in my closet since about March. The sequins on the side make it itchy against the skin so I needed to find something to go underneath.

My Buckle jeans....I know what you all will say {OMG those are so expensive} {I refuse to pay that much on JEANS} but I LOVE their jeans no matter what you will find some in any style that make you feel a million bucks. They're super comfortable and I can dress them up or down. Plus no matter your height they do FREE alterations.

Hopefully you enjoy this something different blog?? Maybe it will help me experiment with my closet and come up with some new ideas!!

P.S: please ignore the messy bathroom we are in the middle of redoing it and only have the blue walls done still need to get the trim done!! PROJECTS PROJECTS

Happy Halloween Eve!!

Fall Apple Dessert

If you love apple pie then you will love this treat!

I never used to be an apple pie fan but lately I have been wanting everything apples for WHATEVER reason- apple pie, apple turnovers, carmel apples, etc! So when I found this recipe on pinterest I was of course already drooling and decided to try it out.

AND it turned out so well I'll even share with all of you!

Ok so the recipe on Pinterest was for 4 apples so I in turn DOUBLED the recipe

Ingredients:
-2 bags of Granny Smith apples (on average 11 or 12)
-store bought pie crust
-1/2 cup sugar
-2 Tbsp brown sugar
-1 Tsp cinnamon

Apple Filling:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Cut the top off of 8 apples and remove inside with a spoon. Make sure your very careful and dont puncture the peel! {this may take some practice to get a steady pace}
3. With additional apples remove skin and slice very thinly as these pieces will be the filling.
4. Place apple slices in a bowl and mix with sugars and cinnamon. Scoop mixture evenly into each hollowed apple.

Crust:

1. Roll out pie crust and slice into thin 1/4 in strips.
2. Cover top of apple in lattice pattern with pie crust strips.
3. Place apples in pan and add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 min.
4. Remove foil and bake for additional 20 min or until crust is golden brown and sliced apples are soft {I had a hard time getting my crust golden brown I had to let it sit in the oven for a little extra longer}

Serve with some vanilla ice cream & makes for a GREAT dessert mmmmmmm :)

Weekend Recap

Seriously where has the time gone I cant believe its already Tuesday evening and I havent even given my weekend recap, sorry that its just a tad bit late.

Colds, costumes, relaxing, and homework this pretty much sums up my entire weekend!

Saturday started out as our typical Saturday mornings lately with taking Bailey to gym jesters, its amazing how far she has come in only a couple weeks. She started out afraid to do almost anything especially anything that had to do with the instructor, the trampoline, and the rings. Now she does amazing when we go she's starting to interact with other kids and exploring everything tear free!

Afterwards we went home to have some lunch and take a nap to avoid any future meltdowns for the day.

The Children's ZOO was having trick or treating going on (and they still are next saturday & Sunday 12-6!) so we decided to take Bailey trick or treating since we wont have her for actual trick or treating on Halloween.

What a cute owl she made!

I'd have to say that overall she had a blast and loved getting to see all of the different animals - she is very into her animal sounds at the moment can can tell you what almost any animal "says"

Plus she got a crap load of candy, overall it was definitely worth the money especially getting that time with her to dress up so Jason and I don't have to miss out on it.

Sunday Jason took me ice skating so we could enjoy just some "us" time, it used to be our Sunday thing to do together. Jason's the one who taught me to ice skate so its special to him and surprisingly enough my clumsy self has NEVER fallen once {knock on wood} haha

We then spent the rest of our day at my parents house relaxing and having our Sunday family dinner as well as I had to study my butt off for two exams I had yesterday....hopefully I did well!!

Wish List Wednesday

Can you believe that it's already Wednesday...thank the lord the weekend is near once again.

The cold and flu bug has seem to hit 4 out of 6 of us in the house as of today and it's miserable so tonight has been filled with anything and everything we can do to make us feel better and prevent any more sickness from coming on.

Tip to all: Vicks vapor rub works wonders and here are two tricks you can do with it in order to kick that cold in the butt!

#1 for those of you who have the candle scent warmers place two spoonfuls of vicks and one spoonful of water in the top of your warmer and turn on, the light will heat it up and get the vicks into your air, place in bedroom at night to help you sleep.

#2  lather your feet with vicks before bed and put on a pair of socks, sleeping with the vicks on your feet will stop your coughing in about 5-15 minutes and last through the night so you can get a good nights sleep.

AND its here....Wish List WeDnEsDaY

Northface- I am in love with the pink fuzzy Northface's and I finally found some in my size at the outlet, of course I love the pink one but the yellow one they have is great too. Only problem is I can see spending over $100 on a jacket when I have so many just like it only not name brand. Hmm...maybe itll be on my Christmas wish list!?

Origami Owl- Love love love this line of jewelry and I have had my eye on it for a while since it came out but only problem I have is figuring out which pieces to pick, I wish I had a better eye for putting such things together, I love things that are meaningful but I want it to be perfect!

Vera- I am also a sucker for Vera Bradley and Ive been searching through the online catalog this week since it's been a while since I have bought a new bag or a new print. I am in love with this new one and all of its colors and I love love love the hipster although I already have one I'm feeling its okay to have two since I use it sooo much!

Craft time- I have been in total craft mode this week putting together all sorts of different Pinterest projects and spending my time wandering Joann's, Michael's, and Hobby Lobby. So it would be just great if someone just went out and bought me a ton of craft supplies, I would probably be in heaven :)

Cant wait to post some of the crafts that I have accomplished this week. Now it's off to bed for me so I can rest up and kick this cold goodbye!

Weekend Recap

Finally I got a weekend full of fun and non stressful activities which was exactly what I needed, time to unwind and enjoy what's most important in life family, friends, and my man <3

As you know my favorite (and only) sister turned 21 this weekend so last night was spent out in Grand Rapids celebrating with the birthday girl and what a good time we had.

Here is our night in pictures:

Backtracking just a little bit to earlier in the day....

Yesterday was Heritage's homecoming and I was able to see my little brother off to his very last homecoming dance (how sad all three of us are officially all grown up) I was also able to get some pictures of the handsome guys and gorgeous girls all dressed up.

Happy Birthday Little Sis!

The day has finally come...my BABY sister is finally 21Where has all the time gone? I remember when I turned 21 just like it was yesterday and thinking it would be forever until I would ever be able to take her out to the bar.

We have been through a lot over the years with our ups and downs in the family. You could say were your typical sisters we've always gotten along one minute and wanted to pull each others hair out the next. But we have each grown over time and being apart has taught us each to appreciate each other more than we have in the past. I know you will always be there for me and I you, and I am glad our relationship has reached the point it is at now.

So here's my advice to you on your big 21st.....

1. Dont listen to all those who say you dont want to remember the night....trust me you do this is only the first of many nights you will be able to go out to the bars and get drunk. You want to remember hanging out with all of your friends and having a good time. Plus you will equally regret it in the morning when you feel like you want to DIE

2. While going out the bars may be fun at first it's not however all that it's cracked up to be, it may be nice to go out once in a while and have a couple drinks with friends but it gets EXPENSIVE and your still much better off drinking at home and getting drunk that way....however...you are now legal to go to the liquor store and get whatever you please instead of having a friend or your boyfriend go and retrieve it for you.

3. Just remember to always be safe there are plenty of creepers out there especially in a college town and never feel like you cant call for a ride or call if you need help whether you have to call a friend, family in Grand Rapids, mom & dad , or me dont feel ashamed or too good to make that phone call.

4. Have FUN...DUH!!

Hope you are having a GREAT birthday and I be down to see you soon! Cant wait to see what this night has in store for us <3

Wish List Wednesday

It's Wednesday and somehow at the same time the week is flying by and dragging on at the same time. Is that possible?? I guess somehow its flying by due to me being stressed out about things that are due this week as well as dreading and also dragging on because I just want this week over!

Since Wednesday is a love/hate relationship I have decided to try out something new Wish List Wednesday we all have things we keep our eye and are just dying to go out and get especially us women so here are some of my current wish list items.

Fall Dress- I love this lightweight dress from themintjulepboutique.com all of their clothes are super cute and affordable. I also love fall clothing and Ive been a little sad latley that it has been too warm to wear any of my favorite sweaters and boots but this dress is just perfect for this in between weather and on top of it adorable with boots.

Leopard Print Sneakers- I put these on the wish list only because I have had my eye on them for a while now and finally bought them for Bailey yesterday. Target is my absolute favorite store and I often find myself wandering around there on a weekly basis whether I am looking for something in particular or just killing time. Who doesn't love high top sneakers for a little toddler especially in cheetah print I cant wait to put them on her with some black leggings.

Stackable Rings- I am absolutely in love with Pandora's stackable rings, ever since we were in Chicago at the Pandora store I have become hooked. Id love to get my birth stone and Jason's birthstone as well as another ring in between.

Slip Ons- These Roxy slip on shoes from the Buckle are the perfect shoes I have been looking for for the fall. I always find it tough to find casual shoes I can wear with most outfits and jeans for an everyday look and now I think I have finally found the ones. Not to mention I have tried them on and they are SUPER comfortable.

Thirty-One Totes- I am an organization freak so you can probably see why I love Thirty One products and I am in love with all of their new fall prints. I am thinking of having a party just so I can earn free product only so I dont have to spend a ton of money on all my favorite products.

So now that I only have the urge to shop (Im sure Jason will love me for this) I will try to keep myself in check and stay far away from Target as I can. Just remember only 2 more days until the weekend!

Weekend Recap

For what was a crappy week turned out to be a great weekend!

1. Friday night I gave into all of the stress weighing on my shoulders and just relaxed I watched Grey's Anatomy with Jason and just laid around and tried to forget about it all.

2. Saturday morning we got up bright and early to go to watch Ethan's cross country meet and although we got there a little late we still got to see family and friends and have Bailey let a little energy out by running around and making lots of friends by sharing her cookies and doughnuts with everyone :)

3. My favorite-and only- sister was in town this weekend so I had the opportunity to have sister bonding time which I have learned to enjoy over time now that we are never around each other anymore living 200 miles apart. We were able to go out to lunch and spend the afternoon together with her boyfriend, Jason, and Bailey- she did so good at the restaurant too!

4. We took Bailey to Johnson's pumpkin farm and she had a blast! She loved trying to pet all of the animals calling the goats sheep and helping Alyssa feed them. We also let her pick out her own pumpkin and she was amazed walking through all of the pumpkins trying to constantly pick them all up. We finally found her the perfect one and took it back home to carve which she wanted nothing to do with at all she kept saying yucky and running away so I carved it for her myself.

5. Today was spent relaxing with the family as we always do on Sundays- Family dinner. It was the perfect cold rainy weather to make homemade chicken and dumplings and boy was it yummy (AND I found the recipe on Pinterest)!

What does this upcoming week bring? Work & School? Well maybe something fun and interesting shall happen!

TGIF

Thank god its Friday and this week is OVER and Im ready for my weekend to begin.

This week has gone from good to bad to good and back to bad all over again with a roller coaster of emotions and quite frankly Im not so sure I can take anymore so Im ready for a quite relaxing weekend that I should be able to enjoy- minus the pile of homework I should try and accomplish.

Highlights of my roller coaster of a week...

1. Found out we spent wayyyy to much money in Chicago last weekend not to say were poor now but money just stresses me out in general and I hate thinking about it and bills its just something I HATE and we will leave it at that

2. My numerous amounts of stress have made me very on edge and has caused me to pick at arguments and fight with those I love and plain and simple that sucks it only makes everything worse and pushes away those who are on your side the most.

3. I got a 90% on my sociology exam which for me is GREAT- so technically I guess thats an upside for the week- but no one seemed to even acknowledge the fact and it really just kind of puts you down.

4. I swear even though I signed my divorce papers months ago its still haunting me and its still putting me down in life. I had a major break down today due to the fact that although I won my vehicle in the divorce I am still trying to get the title in my name only and although what sounds like a simple task its much more complicated considering the financing company must have him sign over a paper which I dont even know if he has gotten it! And then they need to finance it in my name to see if I can make the payments and although I have been making the payments all along and dont have problems with it this divorce and "him" have ruined my credit unbelievably and I know Ill never get it alone. How this all plays into my week? My tabs have to be renewed by tomorrow and ive had more problems trying to get them at secretary of state so my result is paying the late fee and just wanting to curl up in a ball and cry....VENT OVER...no more talking about "him"

So now its the weekend Im thinking things can only go up and I am looking forward to lots of boyfriend time, XC meets, and pumpkins.

Time for bed all!

Hidden finds

I just thought I had to share my awesome find for great cheap clothes! I know you will all just think Im crazy but....wah lah...Goodwill!!

Target one of my top favorite stores just so happens to send all of their clearance items over to Goodwill after a certain amount of time. Goodwill in turn marks the items down even more making these brand new great items SUPER CHEAP!

Im pretty sure Im obsessed now I always want to go and see what kind of new things they have gotten. They may not always have great clothing options for me but they do have good shoes especially when it;s so hard to find your size in the clearance rack at Target when their strewn all over the place. Its also a great place to get clothes for Bailey all of their new clothing her size is only $1.99 you seriously can not beat that!

Today all for $16 I was able to get three new shirts of Bailey, a pair of jeggings for her, and three new bras for myself ALL from Target.....IN LOVE :)

They also have a large selection of books most of them in great condition and since children's books are so expensive these days I always make sure to look through their section to see what I can find its a great way to add to her book collection at home I have found different Clifford books, The Cat in the Hat, and many more.

Just thought I would share my great experience with everyone else....Happy Shopping!!
